クライテリオンから届いた2019年6月のBLU-RAYリリース･アナウンス。リリース順に、イングマール･ベルイマン、ジョージ･スティーヴンス、ブリュノ･デュモン、ジョン･キャメロン･ミッチェル、セルゲイ･ボンダルチュク監督作がラインナップ。６月25日リリース予定となっているのが、ジョン･キャメロン･ミッチェル監督作『ヘドウィグ･アンド･アングリーインチ』（2001）です。
東西冷戦時代の東ドイツ。性転換手術を受け、ロックシンガーとなった主人公の波瀾の半生をグラムロックに乗せて描く。タイトルは性転換の手術ミスで、股間に残ってしまったイチモツ＝怒りの1インチ（アングリー･インチ）のこと。オフ･ブロードウェイで高い評価を受け、2年半以上のロングランヒットとなった同名ロック･ミュージカルの映画化。

www.youtube.com監督･脚本･主演は舞台版と同じくミッチェルが兼任（2017年には久々の監督作『パーティで女の子に話しかけるには』が公開）。共演にマイケル･ピット、ミリアム･ショア。撮影は『オール･イズ･ロスト～最後の手紙～』のフランク･G･デマルコ。音楽は『ラヴレース』のスティーヴン･トラスク。サウンドデザインは『グレイテスト･ショーマン』のルイス･ゴールドスタイン、『インサイド･ルーウィン･デイヴィス 名もなき男の歌』のポール･アームソン。ミッチェルとデマルコの監修･最終承認を経た、35mmオリジナルネガからの4Kデジタルレストア版。
