アロー･ビデオから届いた4K UHD BLU-RAY『ロスト･イン･スペース』（1998）リリース･アナウンス。監督スティーヴン･ホプキンスの承認を得た、35mmオリジナルカメラネガからの最新4Kデジタルレストア／HDRグレード版。HDRはHDR10とドルビービジョンHDRをサポート。
見たこともない宇宙。SOSは届かない。
2058年、地球は資源不足により滅亡の危機に直面していた。これに対し人類は総力を結集し、未知の惑星への移住計画を進めていた。全人類の命運を担い、ひとつの家族が宇宙へ旅立つ。家族の名はロビンソン･ファミリー。目的は新惑星アルファ･プライムの調査。だが、同じ宇宙船ジュピターに乗り込んでいた反乱軍のスパイ、ドクター･スミスの策略によって宇宙で迷子になってしまう。時空の歪み。未知の生物。生命を脅かす謎の物体。彼らの前にはさまざまなトラブルが待ち受けていた。60年代人気TVシリーズ『宇宙家族ロビンソン』を、『プレデター2』『ゴースト&ダークネス』で注目されたスティーヴン･ホプキンス製作･監督で映画化。出演はウィリアム･ハート、ゲイリー･オールドマン、ミミ･ロジャース、ヘザー･グレアム、マット･ルブラン、ジャレッド･ハリス。

製作費は8,000万ドル（世界興収1億3,620万ドル）。その半分近くを特殊効果に費やしており（700以上の視覚効果ショット）英コンピュータ･フィルム･カンパニー、英シネサイト、米ジム･ヘンソンのクリーチャー･ショップなどが参加。27年前の特殊効果ではあるが、クオリティは非常に高く、大画面鑑賞に十分耐えられる出来栄えとなっている。また予算の関係上、ドルビーアトモス･サウンドトラックを制作できなかったというが、アトモス再生が可能な環境であればフルチャンネルでのアップミックス再生をお薦めしたい。
